Itinerary

Day 1 | December 13 | St. Paul, MN

As you make your way to the Twin Cities today, sit back and enjoy the holiday decorations along the way. To start your afternoon, there is a guided tour of the Cathedral of St. Paul, the national shrine of Apostle Paul. The Cathedral is recognized as a historical landmark and one of the most prominent buildings in the city. During the holiday season, the beauty and spirit of the Cathedral are especially prevalent. Later this afternoon, you’ll have a guided Christmas Traditions Tour at the James J. Hill House. In the 1890’s, St. Paul’s Summit Avenue was a holiday destination where friends and neighbors gathered to celebrate the Christmas season. The James J. Hill House, built by railroad magnate James J. Hill, was at the center of it all. Hear stories of holiday celebrations of the past, see rare historic photographs of the neighborhood, as well as excerpts from Hill family letters and journals. This evening you’ll check into one of the nation’s premier hotels, The Saint Paul Hotel. From the notable to the notorious, the hotel has hosted some of America’s preeminent historical figures. And during the holiday season, its splendor dazzles even more with their stunning holiday decorations! Saint Paul Hotel

Day 2 | December 14 | St. Paul, MN

This morning take a guided tour of the Norwegian Lutheran Church, “Mindekirken” and their Gingerbread Wonderland. Your tour includes the history of the church and explains Norwegian Christmas traditions. Following the tour, you’ll walk to the Norway House to see the famed Gingerbread Wonderland. Gingerbread, or pepperkake in Norwegian, is a feature of the Norwegian holiday and is featured in cookies, ornaments, houses, and more! Back at the Saint Paul Hotel, experience a live radio play of It’s a Wonderful Life. During the performance you will be served a delectable three-course luncheon. You’ll then have some free time to explore the area around the Saint Paul Hotel on your own. You may choose to walk over to the Landmark Center for their ever popular Gangster Tour or walk through Rice Park’s extraordinary Christmas light display. Dinner will be on your own with a variety of exceptional restaurants within walking distance. This evening you will take in a holiday performance at the Ordway Theater (show to be announced at a later date). Saint Paul Hotel * Lunch Included
